Our Program

Teaching Interns

Music and the Brain offers New York City schools teaching support as part of the program.  We hire professional musicians or music education students to assist Department of Education music teachers who are using MATB in the classroom.

Typically, Music and the Brain Teaching Interns visit two schools a day to observe and assist the music teacher in conducting lessons.  MATB teaching interns submit their comments from class visits so we may determine any additional support a music teacher or school may need to make the program a success.

Job Opportunity:
MATB Teaching Interns are hired by the 42nd Street Development Corporation on  a part-time, independent-contractor basis.  They work during the academic school year only.   There is significant flexibility of schedule, though hours are in accordance with the school day, which is typically between 8am and 3pm daily.  This is a paid hourly position and there is no vacation, sick pay, or health benefits associated with this job.
